ABOUT OUR JOCOTOCO RESERVES

FundaciĂłn de ConservaciĂłn Jocotoco is an Ecuadorian non-governmental organization (NGO) created in 1998 to protect areas of critical importance for the conservation of Ecuador’s most threatened birds and the biodiversity that exists within them. Jocotoco achieves this goal by acquiring strategic land and managing it as biological reserves.

The Jocotoco reserves protect more than 900 species of birds, of which more than 50 are threatened or almost threatened with extinction on a global scale, and more than 100 species are regional endemics (species of restricted geographic distribution).
